Sioux Falls Gratia Prayer Meeting "What Are You Doing Here Elijah"

On Friday August 26, 2016 at 6:00 PM the message "What Are You Doing Here Elijah" was given by Pastor Christine Lee at Gratia Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD.  The message was taken from 1 Kings 18:41-19:18 and Isaiah 46:11.

Elijah was one of the greatest Old Testament prophets, but the Bible says he was like us. In this passage, he destroyed the prophets of Baal, called rain down on the earth, fled from Jezebel, and in despair went to meet God at Mount Horeb.  He went in the power of the angel's provision for forty days and forty nights.

Christine reflected on his prayer for rain and on his experiences at the mountain of God.  Elijah prayed first and kept praying persistently for God to fulfill His promise of rain.  He prayed with great humility.  After all, God said, "what I have purposed..., I will also do it".  He prayed for rain seven times which is the number for perfection or completion.  God promised His church would grow, so believers must continue to pray for that. At the mountain, Elijah met the Lord, not through the strong wind, earthquake or big fire, but the gentle whisper. That's God's love towards each one of His people. God's power and love are revealed not only the mighty acts but more strongly through His words. Members were exhorted to give ears to God's words in their daily path and be strengthened accordingly.

Prayer was given each member present for his or her self.  Then they prayed for the Sunday service, the other members of the Church not present, and for the sister Churches in the other States of their region.  They all prayed that the chains and strongholds would be broken.
