On Friday July 8, 2016 at 6:00 PM the message "Treasure in Heaven" was given by Minister Christine Lee at Gratia Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD. This message was taken from Matthew 6:19-24 and Ecclesiastes 7:2-4.
The Lord admonishes the believers to obtain treasure that will last in heaven and not to bother with treasure that won't leave the earthly existence. He wants people to produce spiritual treasure and not material treasure. This passage talks about what this means.
Christine expressed that life here on earth without working for heaven is meaningless. In fact the second passage teaches that it is even better for men to mourn than to party because they gain wisdom about vanity of life. In the end, if one just serves God all the blessing of provision will be given them. When they seek God's Kingdom and His righteousness first, all they need will be added to them. All who serve God should expect to have food and shelter and all their needs met because God cares for them. This should be considered an exercise of faith. Even Jesus had nowhere to lay His head, so the believer should expect challenges of having some trials and deprivation. But they should overcome with faith.
Everyone present had prayer requests, mostly for jobs and for protection from theft or damage. However, they also prayed for the upcoming summer retreat, healings, victorious outreach, the Sunday service, each other and the senior ministry.
