On Sunday June 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM the message "Although They Knew God" was given by Minister Christine Lee at Gratia Community Church in Sioux Falls, SD. This message was taken from Romans 1:18-32 and Matthew 22:34-40.
In this passage man rejects the knowledge of God and is given over to worse sin then he ever had, even to the point of doing unnatural sins. It says even though man knows about God they choose to reject Him until He gives them over to be consumed by reprobate sin.
Christine made several points. God didn't plan for this world to be so bad, but except for man the world is still well ordered. The wrath of God is this passage is worse in that when God gives somebody over they are in danger of never being convicted about their sin and never coming to repentance. The laws of God are meant to bring order to man's life and are summed up in the two love commands in the second passage. The mental disease and homosexuality in America are a result of rejecting God. The soul without God gets bored and empty, so it needs exciting sin to try and fill itself.
Linda noted one's thoughts about God and communing with God need to be 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Then sin won't have a chance to enter in.
Alan compared the longing for sin to someone being thirsty when their soul is dry and devoid of the knowledge of God. So they are drinking in sin to try and quench their spiritual need.
Bruce pointed out the inspired Bible shows one definition of what the "knowledge of God" means in verse 28. It says, they did not like to "retain God" in their knowledge", meaning they don't even want Him around at all. Also, he sees the sin of being implacable (unmovable) being played out in the city streets every day.
After reflection and sharing everyone had some lunch and fellowship in the dining room. Bruce reminded the seniors that were present about the senior event taking place in the coming Wednesday.
